CAMPanions was set up in May 2009 by its co-directors, Tony Thornton and Suzie Miles.
CAMPanions was created with the intention of providing activity camps or day programmes to children, young people and families who are affected by illness and disability. We design and run programmes that will meet the needs of a specific group, whilst providing them with a unique and memorable experience.
We believe passionately in our Camp model and the positive impact it has on the lives of the campers.
CAMPanions is a non-profit Community Interest Company. This means that it is a registered company that has passed a 'community interest test' to show that our sole purpose is to benefit the community. It is 'non-profit' in the sense that no individuals profit financially from the company's work. We have what is called an 'asset lock', meaning that all money and resources held by the company would be donated on to another non-profit organisation (such as a charity) should the company come to an end.
Essentially, CAMPanions is owned by the community it serves!
